Losing a massive pot on the last card
I was playing in the pub poker league. I am big blind I have 9 2 off suit. There are 4 people limping in to the hand. When it comes to me I check. The flop comes great. 2d 3c 9c... I’m thinking what a great flop for me here, but I’ll make a big bet to scare out anyone chasing the flush at this point. I get 2 callers. The turn is 2c giving me the full house. Now I am hoping that someone has caught the flush. I check the hand to see what the other 2 people are doing. The person after me checks too and the last to act makes a massive bet. I call and so does the other guy. The river Jc making 4 cubs on board. I check again the next guy who checked first time goes all in. The next guy goes all in too. There are about 70+% of all the games chips in this one pot and I have only a few chips left so I call also. I turn over my full house and the guy behind me grrrr’s as he turns over the ace flush. The guy after him turns over a pocket pair of jacks. The river gave him the higher full house; this left me knocked out of the tournament. I would still play that hand the same if I was to do it again even though 99 or 33 would have beat me prior to the Jack on the river. The odd were and would be in my favour again. You can play your cards, you can play players, you can’t play against luck, and it will get you every time.
